Privacy policy
Effective 1 January 2023. Last updated September 2026
The short version: we collect what we need to run the service and keep in touch, your documents and records stay yours, and we do not sell personal information. The details follow.
1. Who we are
Braille is operated by Braille Pty Ltd (ABN 29 681 561 026), an Australian private company. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers the braille-ai.com website, the waitlist, and, once it launches, the Braille app.
2. What we collect
Waitlist and contact details. When you join the waitlist, or ask for a demo through it, the form asks for your email address, your company, the apps you use and anything you want to tell us. Your responses are stored in our own database.
Account details. When the app launches, creating an account will involve details such as your name, email address and workspace settings.
Customer data. Braille processes the documents you upload and, where you connect apps such as your accounting, CRM or file storage systems, the records in those apps, in order to run the workflows you set up. This is your data. We process it at your direction and, as section 3 explains, to run and improve our own models that deliver the service.
Braille is a business tool and is not intended for people under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
3. How we use it
We use personal information to operate and improve the service: running the workflows you set up, matching and writing records in the apps you connect, providing support, and keeping the service secure. Our own models run on and learn from your data to deliver the service, covering confidence scoring, duplicate checking, embedding search and inference. Those models are never shared with or used to train an external model, and your data is never used to train any third-party AI model.
We use waitlist and contact details to keep you informed about early access, launch and product updates. You can unsubscribe from those emails at any time. We do not sell personal information.
4. Storage, security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. On cancellation, we delete your customer data on request, as set out in the terms of service. Deletion removes your data and every copy of it we hold, including embeddings and outputs. The one thing it does not undo is the learned parameters of our own models; those parameters do not store your data, and we never use them to reproduce or disclose it.
Our hosting and our databases are in Sydney, Australia. Personal information is encrypted in transit and at rest. The compute providers that perform extraction and matching process your data under zero-retention agreements, so they keep nothing once a run completes.
We keep waitlist details until you ask us to remove them or the waitlist closes, account details for as long as your account exists, and customer data as set out in the terms of service: on cancellation, it is deleted on request.
5. Third parties and subprocessors
We share personal information with service providers only so they can provide services to us, and with the apps you connect at your direction.
Waitlist submissions, including requests for a demo, are stored in our own database in Sydney, Australia. We do not use a third-party form service.
When you connect an app such as QuickBooks, Xero, Salesforce, HubSpot or Google Drive, Braille reads and writes data in that app at your direction, subject to that app's own terms and privacy policy.
Beyond those, we use a small set of providers to run the service: cloud hosting, email delivery, and the AI model providers that perform extraction and matching. That set changes as the product develops, so we provide the current list on request via the address in section 9.
We may also disclose personal information where the law requires it.
6. Cookies and analytics
The braille-ai.com website does not set cookies and does not run third-party analytics. Once the app launches, it will use only the cookies needed to operate, such as keeping you signed in. If that changes, we will update this policy and add a consent mechanism where the law requires one.
7. Access, correction and deletion
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us at the address in section 9. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner if you are unhappy with our response.
If you are visiting from the United Kingdom or the European Union, you also have rights under the GDPR, including access, correction, erasure, portability and the right to complain to your local supervisory authority. Where the GDPR applies, we process personal information to perform our contract with you, with your consent for marketing, and for our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, and we protect overseas transfers with recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product develops. If we make a material change, we will tell account holders and people on the waitlist before it takes effect.
This policy was last updated in September 2026 to say that our own models learn from customer data to deliver the service.
