Terms of service

Last updated August 2026

The short version: you pay for the plan you choose, your data stays yours, and we never bill by page or document. The details follow.

1. Who we are

Braille is operated by [SET BEFORE SHIPPING: legal entity name, ABN/company number]. These terms are an agreement between that entity and you, the account holder. By creating an account or using Braille, you accept them.

2. The service

Braille finds the data buried within documents, images, text and objects, and brings it into the systems you run on. Workflows automate that process; Rosetta, an add-on product, processes large data sets against schemas you define. Features and limits for each plan are listed on the pricing page, which forms part of these terms.

3. Accounts and workspaces

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for the people you give access to. Every plan includes unlimited users. Workspace access controls vary by plan, as set out on the pricing page.

4. Plans and billing

Prices are in US dollars and exclude taxes. Annual plans are billed yearly at the effective monthly rates shown on the pricing page; month-to-month billing is the annual rate multiplied by 12/10. Annual plan prices are locked for the term of the contract.

Usage is measured in workflows. A completed standard workflow run counts as a half; a completed app-workflow run (one that matches against, or creates or updates, records in a connected app) counts as one. Each plan includes a monthly allowance that resets at the start of each billing month.

5. The hash rule and failed runs

Every set of run inputs is hashed. The same inputs through the same workflow never bill twice, so duplicate submissions are free.

Runs that fail because of a fault on our side are free, and our routing mistakes are corrected and re-run at our cost. A run that fails because of its own inputs is billed at a heavily discounted rate. A corrected re-run has new inputs and is billed as a new run.

6. Overages

Where an allowance has an overage, the rate is shown directly beneath that allowance on the pricing page. We warn you at 80% of any allowance before overage billing starts. Purchased workflow runs never expire and are used after your monthly allowance.

7. The 90-Day Walkaway

Annual contracts carry the 90-Day Walkaway, once per customer: within the first 90 days of an annual term you may cancel with written notice. You pay a pro-rata quarter, you keep every filled schema and output produced, and on request we delete your data.

After day 90, the standard annual term applies for the remainder of the contract.

8. Fair use

File size per run, concurrent workflows, entity allowances and Rosetta run sizes are set per plan on the pricing page. Rosetta runs accept up to 250 MB zipped per run (larger by arrangement on Enterprise). Limits keep the service reliable for everyone. If you regularly need more, we will suggest a bigger plan; we do not bill extra without warning you first.

9. Your data

Your documents, entities and outputs remain yours. We process them to provide the service: extracting data, storing and embedding entities for matching and search, and delivering outputs to systems you connect. On cancellation, we delete your data on request.

[SET BEFORE SHIPPING: hosting locations, retention periods, subprocessors, and a link to the privacy policy.]

10. Acceptable use

Use Braille only on data you have the right to process, and not to break the law, infringe anyone's rights, or probe or disrupt the service. We may suspend accounts that do.

11. Availability and liability

We work to keep Braille available and accurate, and Business and Enterprise plans carry the support commitments shown on the pricing page. The service is provided as-is to the extent the law allows, extraction output should be reviewed before you rely on it, and our total liability is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before a claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including under the Australian Consumer Law.

12. Changes

We can update these terms and our pricing. Price changes never apply mid-term to a locked annual contract. If we make a material change to these terms, we will tell account holders before it takes effect.

13. Contact and governing law

Questions and notices: [SET BEFORE SHIPPING: contact email]. These terms are governed by the laws of [SET BEFORE SHIPPING: state and country, e.g. Queensland, Australia], and the courts there have jurisdiction.
